[DevExpress Support Team: CLONED FROM T995471: Refactoring - 'Sync Namespace with Folder Structure' incorrectly determines the default namespace for a project]
I've had a chance to do a sync namespace using this build and I get this problem if I rename and then try to quit visual studio. I've had this before in the past with coderush. It does correctly do the namespace though but I have to quit visual studio to get it working correctly again.
I've had this problem quite a few times with previous builds and I think it has been happening since you the refactor of "sync namespace". I have got used to closing visual studio and reopening it to get around it but been too busy to report this.
Hi,
Thank you for the report.
Please send us the log files located in this folder: %localappdata% \CodeRush\Logs.
It would be helpful if you collect the call stacks when the issue occurs again. Please refer to the following article to learn how to collect these call stacks:
Collecting a call stack to track down the cause of VS crash or freeze issues
I look forward to your reply.
Here are my logs.
Edit: Logs removed
here is stacktrace. I also have a dump but it is too large to attach to this.
Edit: Stacktrace removed
Hi,
Thank you for the information. We researched it, but we did not find any potential causes of this issue.
Based on your report, refactoring continues to work; at the same time, a modal window demonstrating the current progress should be shown.
In a large project, this operation can take a significant amount of time. Please confirm that you see the modal window when you try to close the Visual Studio.
As long as you see one of these windows, user input will be blocked.
I look forward to your reply.
I see the dialog and it does go but visual studio refuses any other input until it is restarted.
Here is a video demonstrating what is happens and note that the modal dialog has gone.
This is a NetFramework AspNet MVC project under TFS source control.
Edit: Removed video
Hi,
Thank you for sharing the video with us.
I could not reproduce this issue locally. If the stack traces from your previous post were collected when the modal window closed, the cause of this issue is the modal window itself. However, we need to research why this happens.
Can you reproduce this problem in a simple project?
If not, the issue is likely related to your project specifics. Could you please share your project? We will research it further on our side.
If yes, please send us the information from the Visual Studio About window. To do this, click the Help/About Microsoft Visual Studio menu item. In the opened window, click the Copy Info button. Paste the copied information into your answer. Also, please send us your sample project.
I look forward to your reply.
Hi,
I am unable to make a project that demonstrate this problem as I find the copied project doesn't have the problem, the only difference is I removed the TFS bindings to the project? The problem still persists with original project though?

Hi,
Thank you for the additional information. I have reproduced this issue in a project bound to a TFS source control. We will research the possibility of fixing this issue and inform you about our progress.
Hello, I am also having this issue in version 21.1.4. I found that if I use the context menu to "Sync Namespace with Folder Structure", this will happen. I will only cause the issue when the namespaces actually need to be changed. If you run the sync and nothing changes, the issue does not happen.
I am also using TFS Source Control.
Thanks,
Nathan
Hi Nathan,
Thank you for your report. We are working on this issue. We will inform you once the fix is ready.
How goes the work on this issue?
Am very keen for it to be fixed as I am avoiding doing any refactoring.
Hi,
We have fixed this issue. Please install the build from the link below and let me know your results:
DevExpress.CodeRush-21.1.4.21179.exe

Andrew,
I did a quick test and it seems to have fixed my issues. I will continue to test this and if my results change, I will let you know.
Thanks for helping get a fix!
Hi,
You are welcome.
Thank you for informing us about your results.
This is also working for me. Thank you so much, this problem has annoyed me for so so long!
You are welcome!
