Spell Checker does not mark misspelled words in the code editor for Visual Studio 2019 v.16.9.0

created 4 years ago

After installing CodeRush 20.2.8, I no longer see the red squiggly under misspelled strings, nor do they appear as messages in the Error List of Visual Studio. However, I can find the misspelling within CodeRush's Code Issues list.

The projects in question use Visual Basic. I'm using Visual Studio 2019 (16.9.0).

        Hi Jeremiah,

Please clarify whether this issue occurs after you change the settings of the Spell Checker? Does restarting Visual Studio help?

Andrew: All settings for the Spell Checker are default. I have tried toggling the various Spell Check settings, but there has been no difference. Restarting VS makes no difference. All projects written in VB have this issue.

I'm currently using VS version 16.9.3. The issue was resolved when you posted the hotfix available earlier in this thread (20.2.8.21064), but with the official release of 20.2.9 the problem has returned, except a little worse. Before it was just the red squiggly lines in the code view that were missing, however a warning of the misspelled word was available in the Error List. Now I'm missing both the red squiggly lines and the warning in the Error List.

I tried to uninstall 20.2.9 and reinstall 20.2.8.21064, but CodeRush does not load at all when I do that. So I appear stuck on 20.2.9. Let me know if you need any further details.

            Hello Jeremiah,

I created a separate ticket on your behalf: (T988557: Spell Checker doesn't work in Visual Basic in CodeRush v20.2.9). We placed it in our processing queue and will process it shortly.
