Test Runner - The test output font in the "Details" tab should be monospaced

created 5 years ago

Hi there,
A good number of tests include formatted console output, things like text based grids and lists. The [Console Output] tab contains the output of all executed tests making it troublesome finding the output of an individual test. The [Details] tab on the other hand contains the information needed but as it's not monospaced it is extremely hard to use. In the example attached the two field are actually aligned by colon but sadly the output is pretty much useless in a truetype font.
Some options:

  1. Add another console tab for the individual test output.
  2. Ability to set font of details tab.
  3. Details Tab --click--> [v] Test Output: -- Auto change font to monospaced or only set the expanded part to monospaced .

    Kind Regards,

    Hi,

I agree that the font used to present test output in the "Details" tab should be monospaced. We will fix it and notify you here after the fix is ready.

        Hello,

Regarding the font size - will it be convenient for you if we make this font just the same as in the editor?

As for the ability to copy the console output, I've created a separate ticket on your behalf (T853134: Test Runner - add possibility to copy console output for individual test in Details tab). It has been placed in our processing queue and will be answered shortly.

          Hi,

Personally the most important aspect for me would be to cram as much legible information into the test output window as possible.

Using the editor font might improve things a little but will render the output less useful for those using extra large editor fonts and/or TrueType fonts.

All things considered dropping the monospaced output by 1 point might be the easiest option until there's time for a more sophisticated solution.

Thank you for the feedback. For now, we will drop a font size by one point as you suggested.
I added your request to introduce a separate font setting for this. We will notify you here when we implement it.
