Go into options and turn off the Enable Spell Checker. Apply and OK on all of the 3 layers does not actually turn the spell checker off.

Hi Ian,
It's concerning to hear that you are experiencing this kind of a problem. Though we appreciate the steps you've provided, we did not find any issues when researching them as you can see in the attached screencast.
Could you send us a video illustrating the steps to reproduce this problem? To record the video, you can use the free Jing tool from TechSmith or any other screen capture tool.
I look forward to hearing from you.
I have the same problem. I can't turn off the spellchecker. This doesn't work with direct switch-off or via the Quick Setup.
I have attached an mp4 file that shows the process.
That was exactly my experience too.
Hi everyone,
Thank you for providing the additional details. I now better understand the situation.
It looks like the SpellChecker option is enabled in other options' layer. I have reproduced the exact behavior illustrated in the screencast. Please give us some time to find ways to address it.
As an immediate workaround, I suggest that you do the following: in Visual Studio go to CodeRush | Options layers, then open each options layer from top to bottom and disable the Spellchecker feature and click the OK button.
Here is a quick recording to illustrate this script:
Let me know about your result.
First of all my OptionsWindow looks different from yours. I attached mine.
I had to run the procedure several times before it worked.
I work on two computers. The second one didn't show the phenomenon. Suddenly, while working on the second computer, the Spellchecker switched itself on, too, without me triggering it. Apparently the Spellchecker turns on by itself.
Hi Rainer,
The Options window looks similar on my machine when it is opened through the CodeRush | Options menu. In my previous reply, however, I recommended opening the options through the "Options Layers" dialog (accessible via the "CodeRush | Options Layers…" menu). This way, you can view/modify settings for each layer separately.
I forgot to mention that you can also enable/disable the Spell Checker feature using the corresponding toolbar button:

This seems to be the fastest way to toggle the Spell Checker feature, as it affects all Options layers at once. Does it work as expected on your side?
It will be also a great help for us if you provide us with your CodeRush settings (both global and solution-level settings) so that we can examine them:
- "Global" settings are stored in the "%appdata%\CodeRush\Settings" folder;
- Solution-level settings can be found in the .cr folder inside your solution folder.
I believe examining these settings will help us determine the cause of this problem. I look forward to hearing from you.
