Attempting to dock the 'Code Issues' window to existing floating windows consistently and immediately crashes Visual Studio. I installed CodeRush for Roslyn and Coderush Classic has been deinstalled, since I did not see anything about whether both extensions could be running at the same time.
Visual Studio main window is in the left monitor, which is an external monitor setup as primary. The floating windows being docked with are in the right monitor, which is my laptop screen.
Steps taken:
- Launch Visual Studio 2015 (I do not have to load a solution, as it has crashed regardless of whether a solution is open)
- From menu, select CodeRush … Windows … Code Issues . This brings up a floating Code Issues window. So far so good.
- Drag Code Issues window over to dock with collection of floating windows on the right (these floating windows are Decompiler/Test Runner/References). APPLICATION CRASHES.
' Code Issues' window docks fine with the main application window, so perhaps it is an issue with floating windows.
Hi Jonathan,
I am concerned to hear that you are experiencing this crash.
It will be very difficult for me to determine its cause if I cannot reproduce it locally. Would you please provide me with additional information so that I can research the issue?
In general, the crash may occur due to a 3rd-party extension installed in your Visual Studio. Please let us know what other Visual Studio extensions are installed on your side. You can check this via the "Extension Manager" dialog (the "Tools | Extension Manager…" menu). Also, Visual Studio's "About" dialog information can be of a great help. Simply click the Copy Info button in the Help -> About Microsoft Visual Studio dialog and share this information with me.
A sample screencast demonstrating the problem would be also very helpful. If possible, record a video showing the issue in action. For this, you can use the Jing software.
I am looking forward to receiving data from you.
I removed a number of extensions that I found I do not use and also performed a repair using Visual Studio Update 3 installer and the issue remains. See attachments for About… dialog info and installed extensions.

I have reproduced the problem, and we will try to fix it as soon as possible.
Once we resolve the problem, we will let you know about this in the context of this ticket.
Jonathan, would you please download the hotfix from the current ticket, install it, try to reproduce the problem, and provide us with your results?
I am looking forward to your answer.
