DevExpress in SharpDevelop

created 11 years ago

,Sorry, I know this question has been asked before but I have two reasons for re-asking it:
- The last time it was asked was 2 years ago and things might have changed, although I guess from the IDE list above that that is not the case
- There is one entry in the KB that talks about performance problems with DevExp ress within SharpDevelop, Therefore, it must be possible to get it to work.
So, my question is how do you get DevExpress controls working within SharpDevelop?
I have just downloaded DevExpress for WinForms to trial it and I would really prefer not to have to change IDE as well as learning new ways to do things with the DevExpress controls, especially as we are still only trialing your product.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Update
I have successfully loaded the DevExpress.ProductsDemo.Win solution in SharpDevelop. I can compile and run it from SharpDevelop and all of the referenced DevExpress controls are available in the form designer. However, even having looked at this solution, it is not obvious how to get DevExpress controls working in a new solution within SharpDevelop. What libraries need to be referenced? Does something else need to be done?

Thanks
Gerard

Hi Gerard,
Indeed, SharpDevelop is not yet supported. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with this IDE, so I cannot claim what a proper way to get 3rd party visual components is when working with this IDE. I suggest that you look for an answer to this question on the Internet or contact the SharpDevelop Community (http://community.sharpdevelop.net/). For example, the following links might be helpful:

Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.

Thank you for your response. I had done quite a lot of Google searching but had not come across the second link you posted, which gave me the solution. I now have DevExpress controls in SharpDevelop. :)
