HP / Mercury Quick Test Pro (QTP) support is needed

DevExpress support for QTP

created 13 years ago

We are having a .Net application build which uses DevExpress controls 10.2.4.0.
Is there any support that DevExpress team currently offers for automated testing using QTP or is there any plans to support QTP in the future ?

    Hi Ansuman,
I assume that QTP is some third-party testing engine. If so, would you please clarify how it operates (what principles lie in the way it interacts with an application being tested) and what exactly support we should provide for it?
    Thanks,
    Ted

      Hi Ted,
Automated Testing Tool- QTP identifies objects(Buttons,Combo Box etc) of applications developed across various technologies like dotnet, java, web etc. We are planning to automate an application which uses DevExpress controls using automated testing tool-QTP. At the moment QTP does not identify DevExpress controls, it's runtime attributes and properties.
Just for info -Infragistsics Test advantage addin provided by Infragistics support team can be used with QTP to recognize Infragistics components in the application.
In similar lines, does DevExpress have any plans to provide an add-in which can be used for automated testing using QTP ?
      Regards,
      Ansuman

        Hi Ansuman,
Thank you for the clarification. I've talked to our developers and found out that we have a suggestion about creating an extension for the QTP testing engine: S18426 (HP / Mercury Quick Test Pro (QTP) support is needed). We also had plans about implementing it, but unfortunately the QTP vendor company was in the middle of a selling process at that time, so we decided to suspend this project. Currently we're implementing full-fledged support for the Coded UI engine, so the QTP support is still under consideration. Maybe we will implement it in the future, but at this time we don't have any plans about it.
        Thanks,
        Ted
