Ribbon - TdxRibbonBackstageView - Extend the extra pane with galleries and buttons similar to those found in Microsoft Office 2010 (or later) Backstage View

created 15 years ago

Hi,
looking the BackstageView of Office2010-applications (Word, Outlook, …) it seems the TdxRibbonBackstageViewTabSheet contents-presentation follows strict guidelines. Effectively on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee691833.aspx#odc_Office2010Introduction2OutSpaceUI_DescriptionsAttributesChildInformation) you von find definitions for the contents (look the xml-part and the COM part): there can be one or two columns, each column can have one or more groups with caption and helpertext, each group con contain different kinds of items.
Please, add properties to the TdxRibbonBackstageViewTabSheet to handle columns, groups, items and handle the positioning and drawing of the items (when resizing the BackstageView do converting of small to large buttons and viceversa, draw separators between the two columns and between groupcaption and its helpertext, … ).
best regards
Toni Santa

      Hello Toni.
Thank you for your response. I am afraid we do not plan to implement this feature in the near future, because it is a very complex task, and it requires some time to examine all possible ways in which to implement this feature and choose the optimal one. Also, it is necessary to find all possible pitfalls and issues that can appear when this feature is implemented. Thus, I cannot give you any precise time frame on when this feature will be implemented.
Your patience and understanding are highly appreciated.
      Best regards,
      Ingvar.

      Additional information:

With a new Ribbon Backstage View gallery component (TdxRibbonBackstageViewGalleryControl) and the enhancements to TcxButton and TdxGalleryControl controls introduced in VCL 13.1, you can create extra panes similar to those found in Microsoft Office 2010 (or later) Backstage View.
The Ribbon Office 2010 and Ribbon Office 2013 IDE templates have been extended with the new Ribbon Backstage View gallery component to represent the Recent Document list. To use a template, click File | New > Other… in your IDE to open the New Items dialog and browse the corresponding folders for the required application or form template.
Run the RibbonNotepadDemo shipped with the ExpressBars Suite to try the new Ribbon Backstage View capabilities.
