When I use the AppendNode method and the keyObject is a string containing spaces I get the following error
Must not contain space chars
Parameter name: keyObject
How do I create a node whose key property is a string containing spaces?

There was a limitation in an early version of the ASPxTreeList, which did not allow a developer to create nodes with such keys. Now, this should be possible. I've converted your question to a bug report. We will fix it soon.
