LayoutView - Cannot hide a column

When I add a column to the Layoutview of a grid in order to use it to sort the view, it is allways displayed in the view even if I set the Visbility of the column to false and the visibility of the layoutfield to never.
I also noted that the spacing and padding values are not stored and are reset to 2 when you open the designer again.
What I am trying to achieve can be compared to the Gallery of the RibbonControl. What I am missing is the posibility to set the detailheight for each individual "masterrow". Manually changing the detailheight changes all open layoutviews. Is it possible to change the size individually?
