The "Show All" option for the CheckedList column filter dropdown is supposed to clear the filter for that column, not check all values within the dropdown (per documentation: Filter Dropdown List).

Hello,
This behavior is by design. There may be a filter set in another column, so that some data rows are already filtered out. In this case, the filter check list is populated with the values currently visible in the grid. The Show All command selects all check boxes in the list, so that the filter corresponds to the currently visible rows. If other column filters are cleared, the previously set "Show All" filter remains valid, since it includes only those values, which were set by the Show All item.
Thanks,
Nick
The functionality you're describing can also be described as "Check All". This is nice if you want to check all but a few of the options in the list, but doesn't seem to add any value if all options remain checked.
"If other column filters are cleared, the previously set "Show All" filter remains valid,

I don't understand why this is the designed functionality. Clicking "Show All" with other column filters already applied does not actually filter the results any further. Then if the other column filters are cleared, the results stay the same since the previous "Show All" filter is effectively preserving the other columns' now cleared filters. This is why I say the filter check list's "Show All" option currently acts like "Check All". Per the DevEx article cited earlier (Filter Dropdown List - see the table comparing the regular filter features to those of the filter check list), "Show All" is documented as a means of clearing the filter, similar to the regular filter's "(All)" option. In fact, for a very large amount of data, selecting all values of a pretty unique column (e.g. Name) results in a very large and inefficient filter/where clause.
It seems like adding a "Check All" option below "Show All" is the more intuitive approach, but maybe that's just me. I know it would be for our users. Also, is there a reason that the special option for "(Blanks)" is not available? This is a very nice feature of the regular filter, that would be very valuable in the Checked List filter as well.
Thanks very much for your time, and please let me know which of these should be turned into feature requests or will be considered in a future version.
Hello,
Thank you for your comments. We quite agree with them. The issue report has been converted to a suggestion. It will be considered for a future version.
Thanks,
Nick
Hello,
The (Show All) item has been renamed to (Select All). This change will be included in the forthcoming v2009 vol 1.
Thanks,
Nick
